Specifically designed for whole staff groups and teams of teachers, this professional learning event will equip teachers and leaders with the foundational principles and practices of responsive teaching. With a focus on the challenges of checking all students’ understanding, this digital masterclass will be interactive, engaging, and supported by beautiful instructional materials.

Learning objectives
- Explain why short cycles of formative assessment (in-lesson) are critical for learning
- Relate the limits of working memory to the need for explicit and responsive teaching
- Apply Teach-Track-Respond cycles in lesson planning and preparation
- Describe a range of methods for checking all students’ student understanding
- Evaluate the upsides and limitations of a suite of techniques, considering when (and why) to use different modes for different purposes
Additional information
Can we participate as a whole staff team?
Absolutely. This day is designed for full staff teams (of any size) to explore the fundamentals of explicit and responsive teaching.
If we enrol as a whole staff, should we all come together in one place for it?
We strongly recommend that teams gather in one place (e.g. staffroom or library) to participate. The day will feature a high level of discussion, so is best undertaken together.
Will the masterclass be recorded?
Yes. A full recording will be made available for 28 days following the event. Anyone who hasn’t been able to make it on the day can catch up at a time that suits them.
Can we join some of the masterclass live, and catch up on other sessions later?
Yes, you are welcome to select and attend sessions as you please.
Can I participate as an individual?
Individuals are very welcome to join! Please note that this day has been designed for discussion and interaction, so we encourage you to join the optional breakout rooms.
We are a small school (fewer than 10 teachers). Do you offer a rate for small schools?
Please get in touch with your school details, and we will organise an adjusted rate for you.
I’ve been to an in-person Responsive Teaching in Action Masterclass. Should I come to this?
This is an adapted version of the in-person workshop. For this reason, we do not recommend you attend this if you have already participated in that program.

The Playbook Project consists of 4 x 2.5-hour workshops (via Zoom), and a commitment of 6-8 hours of structured, self-paced tasks to be undertaken throughout the year. As you move through the program, you will enjoy targeted feedback and support from Bron and her team of expert facilitators.

Meet the program team
Bron Ryrie Jones
PROGRAM LEAD
Bron is a practicing instructional coach and teacher educator. She has worked with thousands of teachers, supporting them to develop more responsive teaching and coaching practices.
Reid Smith
IMPLEMENTATION COACH
Reid is a career teacher and curriculum leader. He is currently Co-CEO of Ochre Education – an organisation committed to the development of high quality curriculum resources.
Pip McIlroy
IMPLEMENTATION COACH
Pip is a secondary school teacher by background. She currently coaches clinical educators in the health sector, supporting them to develop high level skills in teaching and facilitation.
Commitment
A team fee of AUD 2290 plus GST secures a place for up to 4 participants (per school). The this is inclusive of live program participation and full access to resources, downloads, workshop recordings and templates.
Additional team members are welcome at a fee of AUD 290 plus GST per person. When you join, simply let us know how many team members you would like to register and we will make sure everyone has full program access.
Can’t make a workshop?
That’s no problem. All workshops will be recorded, so you and your team can catch up on workshop content any time.
