Big Ideas in Responsive Teaching

Decades of research evidence suggest great value in responsive teaching – an approach to instruction through which teachers explicitly explain and model concepts, while engaging in short cycles of formative assessment to respond to student learning.
In this practical and interactive keynote, Bron outlines big ideas from the research, articulating a clear argument for teachers and instructional leaders to invest in more responsive teaching. Principles and practices are explored, setting the scene for a sustained focus on a more nimble model of teaching.

In-School Workshop

Responsive Teaching in Action

Being responsive is a cornerstone of great instruction – but in real time, and with students in front of you, adapting instruction is sometimes not an easy task. In this rigorous and interactive masterclass, Bron first explores a model of learning to draw out the purpose for responsive teaching. Specific teaching techniques are defined, described and practised. Examples from the field – spanning primary and secondary year levels and learning areas – are examined, with structured opportunities for teachers to consider the implications for their work on the ground.
